Even though it is difficult to determine exactly where tea originated from, it is believed that it may have begun in China. When traders and religious people were traveling through China during the 1500s, they probably were given tea to drink. These merchants and religious people may have brought the tea back to Europe. However, there is evidence that people were drinking tea long before that. Marco Polo was from Italy and he is well-known for traveling to China. While in China, he was probably served tea. Then he brought some back to Italy and other countries. Today, tea can be found everywhere. People drink hot tea and cold iced tea. To make your own tea, you can buy tea bags from the grocery store. Put a couple of them in boiling water and then turn off the stove. Cover the pot and let the tea steep for about half an hour. Then remove the tea bags and pour the water into a pitcher.
