Core Concepts

A continent is a large area of land that is separated by oceans. There are 7 continents: Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, and South America. A country is a piece of land with its own government, laws, and people. Countries can be found on any continent.

A ocean is a large body of saltwater that covers much of the Earth's surface. There are 5 major oceans: the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, Indian Ocean, Arctic Ocean, and Southern Ocean.
