Introduction

The A Level Physics syllabus includes the following topics:
AQA:
Measurements and errors, particles and radiation, waves, mechanics and materials, electricity, further mechanics and thermal physics, fields and their consequences, and nuclear physics.
OCR: Development of practical skills, foundations of physics, forces and motion, and electrons, waves, and photons.
Cambridge International: Physical quantities and units, forces, density and pressure, work, energy and power, deformation of solids, D.C. circuits, particle physics, motion in a circle, gravitational fields, ideal gases, electric fields, magnetic fields, alternating currents, quantum physics, nuclear physics, medical physics, and astronomy and cosmology. 

A Level Physics assessments include written examinations and practical endorsements. The course is around 80% theory and 20% practical.

The final A Level Physics exam consists of three papers:
Paper 1:
40 multiple-choice questions worth 40 marks. This paper is 1 hour and 15 minutes long.
Paper 2: Structured questions worth 60 marks. This paper is 1 hour and 15 minutes long.
Paper 3: The Advanced Practical, worth 40 marks and 2 hours long. 

Students studying AS Level Physics take three papers in a single examination series. Students studying A Level Physics take all five papers
