A 'multiple' is a number that can be divided exactly by another given number, e.g. 6 is a multiple of 3 because 3 divides 6 exactly two times. In addition, 3.4 is a multiple of 1.7 because 1.7 divides 3.4 exactly two times.

The easiest way to work out multiples is to learn your times tables by heart.. If you are in any doubt, just ask yourself ‘does this number appear in that times table?’ If the answer is yes, then you’ve found yourself a multiple.
