The top five states for bedding and garden plants in 2020 were: Michigan, California, Florida, New Jersey, and North Carolina. 
The US imports 80% of its cut flowers from other countries. California is the major producer of lilies in the US, accounting for 100% of the quantity sold at the wholesale level. Colombia, Costa Rica, and Ecuador are the largest exporters of lilies to the US. 
In 2022, the total value of sales increased 4%, and the area used for production was 833 million square feet.
