Grade 10 curriculum (homeschool) typically involves:
1. English Literature: Devices such as figurative language, theme, and setting. Use this knowledge to read and study influential works in literature - e.g. Don Quixote, Julius Caesar and other works.
2. Grammar and Composition: Advanced grammatical concepts such as mood, objective complements, and substantives. And to new forms of writing such as a critical book review.
3. Vocabulary, Spelling, Poetry: The emphasis on the origin of vocabulary words; word analysis through the study of prefixes, roots, and suffixes; and word analogies is an education in itself! In addition to the 144 vocabulary words, more than 1,000 synonyms, antonyms, and related words are part of this year’s study. Learning famous classic poems.
4. Algebra 2: More advanced algebraic concepts such as graphing, solving quadratic equations, radicals and exponents, imaginary numbers, logarithms, and completing the square.
5. Biology: Familiar things of nature, design at the cellular and chemical level.
6. World History: From the beginning of civilization to the 20th-century rise of globalism.
