Introduction

12th grade curriculum

12th graders typically study:

- advanced math such as Precalculus and Trigonometry

- high school level social studies and science course

- English

 

A 12th grader learns the following skills:

  1. Compare two interpretations of the same story.
  2. Connect a text to its social and historical context.
  3. Write an analytical essay.
  4. Revise writing to strengthen word choice.
  5. Solve systems of equations involving three variables algebraically.
  6. Use matrix multiplication to solve problems.
  7. Graph rational functions.
  8. Identify different structures of government.
  9. Describe the purpose of each of the ten amendments in the Bill of Rights.
  10. Identify major political ideologies.

Additionally, 12th graders should:
- Take an English course that includes literature, composition, grammar, and vocabulary instruction.
- Make sure they have completed at least Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry, and if so, use their senior year to take a higher math such as Precalculus or Trigonometry.
- Focus on electives that interest them and will prepare them for future college and career study
