Resistance welding is a process that joins two metal workpieces by passing an electrical current through them. The electrical resistance of the metals, the contact resistance between them, and the electrical current generate the heat needed for welding. Resistance welding is also known as electric resistance welding (ERW). The process involves applying pressure and conducting a strong electric current through the metal combination to heat up the welding joint and melt the metals, forging them together.
