Here are some types of patterns used in casting:

Match plate pattern: A two-piece pattern that is mounted on a plate. This pattern is used in machine molding and produces accurate castings quickly.
Loose piece pattern: Allows manufacturers to remove a piece of solid pattern above or below the mold's parting plane. This pattern requires skilled labor and is expensive.
Single piece pattern: Also known as a solid pattern, this is the least expensive casting pattern. Casting producers prefer this type of pattern because the rectangular blocks are suitable for small-scale manufacturing and simple operations.
Skeleton pattern: Used to produce an outline of the large final casting by assembling wood segments. This pattern reduces the cost and waste of material for producing simple large casting.
Gate pattern: Used to create gating systems in the mold. These systems define the channels through which molten metal enters the mold cavity.
Sweep pattern: A curved pattern used to create long, curved castings features. This pattern often produces pipes, tubes, and other components.
