Questions are based on the following information: A horizontal spring is bolted to a wall on one end and is attached to a box on the other end (Figure 1). At rest, the distance between the wall and the box is 0.5 meters. The box itself has a mass of 1.0 kg, and the spring constant is 5.0 N/m. Several different weights, of mass m, were added to the box to change its overall mass. For each trial, the box was moved 0.75 meters away from the wall, the spring's full extension. All motion is frictionless.
