What is the use of Coherence techniques along and between scan lines?

Anti-aliasing helps make digital images appear more realistic by eliminating the "staircase" effect that often appears on curved or angled lines. It can also eliminate jaggies that appear in objects in PC games.
Anti-aliasing works by softening the color transition between edge pixels and background pixels. Because only the edge pixels change, no detail is lost.
