One-Leg Stand Testing ____________ Explain the test requirements using the following instructions and demonstrations: - 'When I tell you to start, raise either leg with the foot approximately six inches off the ground, keeping your raised foot parallel to the ground.' Demonstrate the one-leg stand. - 'You must keep both legs straight with arms at your side.' - 'While holding that position, count out loud in the following manner: 'one thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand three,' and so on until told to stop.' Demonstrate a count. Note: You should not look only at their foot when conducting the demonstration. Be aware of officer safety. - 'Keep your arms at your sides at all times and keep watching the raised foot.' - 'Do you understand?' Make sure the person indicates that they understand. - 'You may begin.' Stop the exercise after 30 seconds.
