A communication system is a collection of telecommunications networks, relay stations, tributary stations, and terminal equipment that can be interconnected and interoperate to form an integrated whole. Communication systems can include: Telephones, Radios, Emails, Messaging apps, Social media platforms, Satellite, Fiber optic, Microwave systems, Internet communications, Cable TV, AM and FM radio, VHF, UHF, HDTV, Shortwave, Fire, and Police. 

Communication systems can also include:
Public switched telephone network (PSTN):
An aggregate of telephone networks operated by telephone operators locally, nationally, and regionally
Intranet: A secured private connection a company uses to communicate within the organization and to limited people
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP): Allows voice to be digitized and sent in the form of an email
E-commerce: Allows buying and selling online 

Communication systems engineering is the design, development, and maintenance of technology for communications. This includes:
Internet systems
Voicemail systems
Group scheduling programs
Webinars
Automatic call answering and routing systems
Computer networks
Information technology (IT)
Information security
