Antonov is a Ukrainian aircraft manufacturing and services company. It was founded in Novosibirsk in 1946. Antonov's expertise is in large aircraft and planes that use unprepared runways. Antonov has built about 22,000 aircraft, with thousands still operating in the former Soviet Union and developing countries.
Antonov's aircraft include: Antonov AN-225 Mriya: The world's largest cargo aircraft, capable of transporting up to 250 tons of cargo. It has a wingspan longer than the Statue of Liberty and is 275 feet long. The only completed An-225 was destroyed in the 2022 Battle of Antonov Airport. In 2022, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced plans to build a second An-225. Antonov An-22: The world's largest propeller aircraft, with a wingspan of 64 meters and a kerb weight of 114 tons. An-124-100 Long-Range Heavy Transport Aircraft: Has a cargo hatch in the rear fuselage to speed up cargo loading and unloading.
Antonov's air transportation division is Antonov Airlines, which specializes in project cargo and outsized cargo worldwide.
