Structure: The structure of an aircraft is one of the most important parts of its design and manufacture. A typical aircraft has several major sections, including the fuselage, landing gear, stabilizer, wing, pylon, and engine.
Aerodynamics: Aerodynamics is the study of how air flows around objects. It is essential in aviation because it helps aircraft engineers design aircraft that can efficiently move through the air. The two primary forces involved in aerodynamics are lift and drag.
Wing system: The wing system sustains the aircraft in flight. Airfoils are an essential component of an aircraft's wing. They are designed to generate lift by creating a pressure difference between the upper and lower surfaces of the airfoil.
Tail surfaces: The tail surfaces stabilize the wings.
Movable surfaces: Movable surfaces control the attitude of the plane in flight.
Power plant: The power plant provides the thrust necessary to push the aircraft through the air.
Motors and propellers: The motors and propellers (commonly referred to as props) generate lift so the aircraft can fly. They also control the attitude of the aircraft and allow you to climb/descend, pitch, roll and yaw.
Avionics: Avionics are the electronic systems used on aircraft. Avionic systems include communications, navigation, the display and management of multiple systems.
Controls: One of the most critical components for new pilots learning flying basics is how to control the airplane. The pilot's controls in the cockpit are connected to flight control surfaces on the wings and empennage.
