Non-conventional energy sources, also known as alternative energy sources, are sources or substances that can be used to produce fuels other than conventional fuels. These sources are continuously replenished by natural processes, including: Biomass, Hydropower, Nuclear power, Solar energy, Tidal energy. 
Some examples of non-conventional sources of energy include: Solar energy, Bioenergy, Tidal energy, Wind energy. 

Some alternative designs for internal combustion engines include:
Rotary engines, such as the Wankel engine
Two-stroke engines
Six-stroke and split-cycle engines
