Here are some basics of building plans:

Floor plan: A basic architectural diagram that shows the layout of spaces in a building from above. It's similar to a map, but shows the layout at a certain level.

Elevation: A view of the house plan from a specified distance, either in front, back, or side of the building.

Site plan: A critical first step before a new build or remodeling project. It helps bridge the gap between what already exists and what you're planning for the future.

Cross section: A vertical plane cut through the plan, similar to slicing a home in half vertically and looking through that section side on.

Landscape plan: Details the layout of the site, including hard elements like walls, drive, terraces, paths, buildings, and planting.

Electrical plan: Shows how electrical items and wires connect, where the lights, light switches, socket outlets, and appliances are located.

Structural plan: The basic foundation of a home, including the layout of the walls, floors, stabilizers, and ceiling.

Other features of a building plan include:
Location of walls (both interior and exterior)
Wall openings, like doors and windows
Vertical circulation, including stairs
Structural elements, including columns
Fixture locations like sinks
Dimensions
