Plastering and pointing are construction processes that involve applying different materials to masonry surfaces:

Plastering: Involves applying a layer of plaster material to create a smooth and decorative finish on masonry surfaces. Plastering can cover walls, columns, and ceilings. The mortar used for plastering can be made of different materials, including lime mortar, cement mortar, or a combination of both.

Pointing: Involves filling the joints between masonry units with mortar to improve structural integrity and weather resistance. Pointing is specifically applied to the joints between individual units, such as bricks or stones.

Plastering can also help to cover imperfections, create a solid base, and improve adhesion for paint.

Pointing and Plastering topics include: Pointing types, plastering mortar, plastering defects and special materials for plastered surfaces, plaster finishes types, plastering work terminology and tools.
