Here are some basics of timber construction:

Timber frame: A method of building that uses a timber frame as a structural support. Traditional timber framing is the art of connecting pieces of timber using wood-to-wood joinery.

Cladding: Used to provide thermal insulation, weather resistance, and to improve the building's aesthetic.

Foundation: A crucial part of the construction process for a wooden house. A sturdy foundation ensures the longevity and stability of your home.

Mortise and tenon joinery: One of the most common timber framing methods. It joins two pieces at a 90-degree angle, with the tenon adding surface area to the mortise.

Steel: Can be used to reinforce and connect timber constructions in a cost-effective and long-lasting manner.

Load bearing masonry: Often made up of two layers, one load-bearing, and the other as a fire and sound barrier.

Wooden bridges: One of the earliest types of bridges, made from timber. They are suitable for small and medium span, enabling the movement of pedestrians, low weight car transport or livestock.
