Court Rule: The purpose of process is notice. Process rules are intended to satisfy statutory due process requirements to provide notice of a pending action to the defendant(s) and allow the defendant(s) an opportunity to be heard. Service must be accomplished in a manner that is reasonably calculated to furnish notice by best means available.
Policy: Service of process shall be attempted at the provided service address or at an address where the intended party is located no more than three times, encompassing an a.m., p.m., and Saturday attempt. Contact cards will be posted at the service location or left with a person of reasonable age and discretion. Upon verification of a valid address, the court on the motion of the plaintiff will issue an order for alternate service allowing service by first-class mail, posting at the last known or best address for service, delivery to a person of reasonable age and discretion, and posting at the courthouse.
