Caches and cookies are both used to improve the user experience and speed up the loading of web pages:

Caches: Store resources like audio, video, and flash files on a user's computer to help web pages load faster. Caches can also store online page resources for long-term use.
Cookies: Store information about a user, such as their preferences and browsing sessions. Cookies are small files that websites send to a user's computer.

If you don't clear your cache, the next user on the computer may be able to see your browser history. The cache can also store private data required by some websites, which could give the next user access to sensitive or personal information.
