Diesel Engine Plant topics include: Diesel engine plant components, fuel system, engine starting methods, lubrication syste,. intake and exhaust systems.

A diesel engine plant is a generating station that uses a diesel engine to generate electrical energy. Diesel power plants can produce 2–50 MW of power and are used in industries, hospitals, radio stations, and more. They are also used in submarines, railways, and ships.

Diesel power plants convert the chemical energy in diesel fuel into mechanical energy using diesel engines. Generators then convert this mechanical energy into electrical energy.
Diesel power plants are also known as stand-by power stations. They have a thermal efficiency of 47%, which is higher than steam or gas turbine plants.

A diesel engine plant works by using a diesel engine as the prime mover. The engine burns diesel, and the products of combustion create mechanical energy. The engine then drives an alternator, which converts the mechanical energy into electrical energy.

The cycle of a diesel engine consists of four strokes: Induction, Compression, Combustion, Exhaust.

- The process begins with the engine taking in air. The air is then compressed in the engine's cylinders.
- A piston compresses the air to increase the temperature in the cylinder. Atomized diesel fuel is then injected into the cylinder.
- The air heats up when it is compressed, and the diesel fuel ignites.
