Mass movements, also known as mass-wasting, are the processes of erosion, transport, and accumulation of material on slopes. These movements are caused by gravity and can occur on both steep and gentle slopes. 

Mass movements can include: Landslides, Vertical and lateral gravitational movements, Rockfall, Mudflow, Saturated soil. 
Mass movements are a major process in the Earth's Critical Zone. They can occur due to fracturing, weathering, and the development of relief. 

Mass movements can be classified into four main types:
Falls
Topples
Slides
Spreads and flows
