Many words can function as more than one part of speech. For example, "light" can be a verb, noun, and adjective. "Advance" can be a noun, verb, and adjective. "Last" can be a verb, noun, adverb, and determiner. "High" can be a noun, adverb, and adjective. 

Here are some more examples of words that can be used as different parts of speech:
About:
Can be used as an adverb or a preposition
Above: Can be used as an adverb, a preposition, an adjective, or a noun
Work: Can be a verb and a noun
But: Can be a conjunction and a preposition
Well: Can be an adjective, an adverb, and an interjection 

Some words can also change meaning depending on how they are used. These words are called homographs. For example, the word "light" can have different meanings depending on how it is used.
