Air pollution engineering is a branch of environmental engineering that focuses on air pollution control and air quality engineering.
Air pollution control engineers, also known as air quality engineers, develop techniques to analyze and control air pollution. They use chemical analysis, computer modeling, statistical analysis, and sophisticated monitoring. Some air quality engineers design or modify pollution-control equipment.
Environmental engineers study air, soil, and water pollution problems. They develop technical solutions to solve, control, or attenuate these problems. These solutions must be compatible with legislative, economic, social, and political concerns.

In short, environmental engineers identify common air pollutants and design and enforce effective solutions.

Common air pollutants include:

  1. Carbon monoxide (CO)
  2. Nitrogen dioxide (NO2)
  3. Ozone (O3)
  4. Sulphur dioxide (SO2)

Topics include: Air Pollutants, Effects of Air Pollution,  Design of Stack Height, Types of Plumes, Devices to Control Air Pollution, Dispersion of Air Pollutants, Contol of Gaseous Pollutants, Air Pollution – Analysis, Air Pollution – Effects , Air Pollution – Meteorology, & Air Qualit.
