Water quality is based on its physical, chemical, and biological characteristics. Water quality parameters are indicators used to evaluate the suitability and safety of water.

These parameters include: Temperature, pH, Dissolved oxygen, Turbidity, Conductivity, Presence of pollutants.
Physical parameters include: Color, Taste, Odor, Temperature, Turbidity, Solids, Electrical conductivity.

Water quality problems are divided into two main categories:

  1. Natural or “conventional” pollution
  2. Modern or industrial/technological pollution
  3. Water quality criteria include:
  4. pH between 6.5 to 8.5
  5. Dissolved Oxygen 4mg/l or more
  6. Free Ammonia (as N) 1.2 mg/l or less

Topics in this quiz include: Physical Characteristic of Water, Chemical Characteristic of Water, & Biological Characteristic of Water.
