When reading a story or poem, the reader will see many emotional words. These words appeal to the senses and sound words. In order to create a realistic story or poem, authors will inset emotional words in their stories.

 

Story 1: Sarah & The Bees

The bee buzzed near Sarah. She screamed and jumped away. The black and yellow bee bumped her. Sarah began to cry.


She ran fast toward her mother. The mud was slippery. Her feet slid and she fell to the ground with a thud. Sarah cried harder. Her mother ran over and hugged Sarah.

Poem 2 - Balloon Poem

Red, blue, green and yellow
Balloons in the sky
A balloon of every color
Pop! A balloon bursts

Whoosh! Air blows out
Of the red balloon
Falls down and down
To the ground
