Stories and poetry should be read aloud by students. Having opportunities to read selections aloud will help students learn how to pronounce words accurately. They will also learn to read selections at the appropriate pace.

Sun shines brightly down to the land below
The ray points a finger at me
I smile up toward the sun
As if to agree with its warmth.

Snow falls slowly down to the land below
It knows I don’t like the freezing cold
I dodge the snowflakes to miss them
Like a player would during a dodgeball game.

Rain falls heavily down to the land below
The clouds shoot the drops down
As if it were my BB gun.
It forces me to protect myself from its wrath."
