A pronoun is a word that replaces one or more nouns. As an example: 'Jack’s car' can be reworded using a pronoun to say 'his car'. Now look at the sentence: 'Tom, Alice, Kay and Mike went to the movies.' 'Tom, Alice, Kay and Mike' can be replaced with the pronoun 'they'. The new sentence would read: 'They went to the movies.'
