If you are given two numbers to determine, such as, the ratio of 24 to 48, you will need to divide both numbers by their greatest common factor.  In this case, the greatest common factor is “8” so we would write it as follows: 24 ÷ 8 = 3 
÷ 8 = 6
The answer:  The ratio of 24 to 48 is 3:6
