Mechatronics System basics include: Mechatronics elements and design process, measurement systems, control systems, microprocessor based controllers and real times mechatronics system. It also contains topics like CNC machines, flexible manufacturing system, computer integrated manufacturing, humanoid robot, mechatronics system advantages and disadvantages.

Mechatronics systems are made up of four main components: Sensors, Actuators, Controllers, Mechanical components.

Mechatronics systems also include:
Electronics
Digital control
Information technology
Signal conditioning
Power electronics
Decision and control algorithms
Computer hardware and software

Mechatronics systems can be mechanical, electromechanical, or hydraulic, or a combination of these structures.

Mechatronics systems model consists of two interacting submodels:
- A submodel that describes aspects related to energy flow in the physical system
- Another submodel that describes aspects related to information flow in the control system
