Mechanical actuating systems can convert mechanical motion into linear motion or vice versa. They can also translate rotary motion into a different speed. 

Here are some types of mechanical actuators:

Hydraulic actuators: Use hydraulic power, such as a fluid or cylinder motor, to facilitate mechanical operation. Hydraulic actuators can exert a large force because liquids are almost impossible to compress.
Electric actuators: Change electrical energy into mechanical energy. They are used in a variety of applications, including food and beverage manufacturing, material handling, and cutting equipment.
Electromechanical actuators (EMAs): Convert electrical energy into mechanical motion using an input signal, usually electrical. EMAs are widely used in various industries due to their ability to provide efficient, controlled movement.
Pneumatic actuators: Can convert energy into motion without ignition or electricity. They are highly sought after in situations where sparking and combustion cannot be tolerated.

Electromagnetic actuators
Convert electrical energy into mechanical energy and vice versa. They are reliable and robust, easy to manufacture and mass produce, and can be easily integrated into mechatronic systems.

Electric rotary actuators
Pneumatic linear actuators
Pneumatic rotary actuators
Piezoelectric actuators
