A medical dresser, or surgical assistant, is responsible for dressing and bandaging wounds and injuries in a hospital.

Some of their duties include:
First aid: Providing first aid in emergency situations
Wound care: Cleaning wounds with antiseptic material, applying ointments, and bandaging wounds
Pain relief: Helping patients with pain-relieving drops in their eyes, nose, or ears

Other procedures: Massaging body parts under the guidance of a doctor, preparing patients for operations, and providing pre-operational care
