Fungi and protozoa are both microscopic organisms that can cause disease. 

Fungi 
Fungi are microbes with chitin in their cell walls. Examples of fungal infections include athlete's foot. 
Histoplasmosis is a fungal disease caused by the yeast Histoplasma capsulatum. 

Protozoa 
Protozoa are single-celled organisms that sometimes cause diseases.

Common protozoan diseases include: Malaria, Giardiasis, Toxoplasmosis. 
Protozoa lack a proper cell wall, but are usually surrounded by elastic membranes that allow the cell to move. 
Diagnosing protozoan illness may involve blood tests, stool tests, or biopsies.
