DNA replication is a biological process that produces two identical DNA replicas from one original DNA molecule. It occurs in all living organisms and is a vital part of biological inheritance.

The steps of DNA replication include:
Recognizing the initiation point

Removing the RNA primer and completing the DNA strand 

DNA polymerases are enzymes that create DNA molecules by assembling nucleotides, the building blocks of DNA. Their primary role is to accurately and efficiently replicate the genome to ensure the maintenance of genetic information and its transmission through generations. 
The replication fork is the area where DNA replication takes place. 
- It is created by helicase, which breaks the hydrogen bonds holding the two DNA strands together. 
- Once the double helix is opened, two strands of DNA are exposed. One strand is called the leading strand, and the other is called the lagging strand. 

On the lagging strand, the DNA polymerase moves in the opposite direction as helicase. This means it can only copy a small length of DNA at one time. Because of the different directions the two enzymes move on the lagging strand, the DNA chain is only synthesized in small fragments. This strand is called the lagging strand.
