A combined cycle power plant (CCPP) uses both a gas turbine and a steam turbine to generate electricity. CCPPs can produce up to 50% more electricity from the same fuel than a traditional simple-cycle plant. 

CCPPs are becoming more popular in the electric utilities market and can offer up to 60% efficiency. 

The components of a CCPP include:
Gas turbines (GT)
Steam turbines (ST)
Heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) 

The exhaust heat from the gas turbine is used to generate steam, which is then run through a steam turbine to provide supplemental electricity.
