Precis writing is a summary that condenses a passage into as few words as possible. A precis should include all the important details of the original paragraph so that the reader can understand the idea of the original passage.

A precis can be 100–200 words long, or about one-fifth to one-sixth the length of the original reading.

When writing a precis, you should:
Stick to the main points of the passage or paragraph
Avoid adding your views or opinions
