Indexing is a data structure technique that improves database performance by decreasing the number of disk accesses required when executing a query. It uses pre-organized data structures to offer faster data retrieval, especially for range queries and ordered records.
Hashing is an effective technique to calculate the direct location of a data record on the disk without using an index structure. It outperforms Indexing when searching for specific items, especially in large databases.
