Geothermal power plants use steam from hot water reservoirs to generate electricity. Ground-source heat pumps can extract thermal energy at colder temperatures for cooling.  Geothermal energy is a renewable energy source that can be used for heating and electricity generation. It's a clean and sustainable resource that comes from the heat of the earth.  Geothermal energy is one of the most environmentally friendly and least polluting sources of energy. It has less impact on the Earth than any other power source.

Factors that influence geothermal energy applications include:
Accessibility
Water or steam temperatures
Geothermal reservoir permeability and porosity

Geothermal energy applications can be divided into three categories:
Power generation
Direct heating
Ground source heating and cooling

Geothermal Applications are:
Heat Pumps:
Heat pumps use the Earth's shallow ground temperature for heating and cooling.
Electricity Production: Electricity production generates electricity from the earth's heat.
Direct Use: Direct use produces heat directly from hot water within the earth.
