Solar cookers are a type of solar thermal collector that use the sun's thermal energy to cook, dry, and pasteurize food. They work by absorbing black body heat and trapping the sun's heat energy. 

The two main types of solar cookers are box and concentrator. Box cookers use reflectors to direct the sun's rays into an insulated container. The container has a black cooking pot inside that absorbs the energy and heats the food. 

Solar cookers can boil water in 30 minutes and roast a fish in half that time. They can also be used for drying and pasteurization.

How a solar box cooker works:
Sunlight enters the box through the glass top.
The light waves strike the bottom, making it hot.
The dark color of the inside absorbs the heat.
The molecules in the box get excited and generate more heat.
The box traps the heat, and the oven gets hotter.
