The ASWB Social Work Licensing Exam (Bachelor’s, Master’s, Clinical, Advanced Generalist) is a 170-question multiple-choice test covering four core competency areas: Human Development/Diversity/Behavior (approx. 24–28%), Assessment/Treatment Planning (20–30%), Psychotherapy/Clinical Interventions (20–30%), and Professional Values/Ethics (15–18%). 

Core Exam Domains
Human Development, Diversity, and Behavior in the Environment (Approx. 25%): Covers human behavior theories, lifespan development, the impact of crises/trauma, and the influence of diversity and social systems.
Assessment, Diagnosis, and Treatment Planning (Approx. 25%): Focuses on assessment methods, diagnostic tools (DSM-5), abuse/neglect, and developing treatment plans.
Psychotherapy, Clinical Interventions, and Case Management (Approx. 25%): Covers intervention techniques, therapeutic relationships, crisis intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Professional Values and Ethics (Approx. 15–20%): Focuses on confidentiality, professional boundaries, the NASW Code of Ethics, and legal requirements. 

Exam Levels & Focus
Bachelors (BSW): Focuses on generalist practice, case management, and foundational knowledge.
Masters (LMSW): Similar to BSW but with more advanced, in-depth knowledge of intervention, theory, and ethics.
Clinical (LCSW): Focuses heavily on diagnosis, assessment, and psychotherapy interventions.
Advanced Generalist: Covers supervision, administration, and policy-level practice. 

Exam Structure
Questions: 170 multiple-choice questions (150 are scored, 20 are pretest questions).
Time Limit: 4 hours.
Passing Score: Varies by exam, typically around 90-107 correct answers out of 150.
