Steam turbine blades are critical components in power plants. They convert the linear motion of high temperature and high pressure steam into a rotary motion of the turbine shaft. 

Here are some things to know about turbine blade profiles:
The leading edge is where the gas flow enters the profile while the trailing edge is where the gas leaves the profile.
The specific airfoil design may vary depending on the application and operating conditions.
Airfoil shape allows for efficient conversion of steam energy into rotational motion.
Each cross-section edge is called a profile line.
The profile is evaluated for off-design efficiencies by changing Mach numbers and inlet flow angles.
