American Sign Language (ASL) is expressed by movements of the hands and face. It is the primary language of many North Americans who are deaf and hard of hearing, and is used by many hearing people as well.

The sign for 'shoes' is made by closing both hands and whacking them together twice,
The sign for 'finish' is made by placing both of your open hands in front of you. Each hand should face you, with your fingers pointing upward. Twist both hands quickly a couple times ending with the palms pointing (somewhat) forward. You can also do this sign with just a single twist which makes it seem more 'final.'
The way to sign 'shirt' is by grabbing your shirt in the upper chest area - in the middle or slightly to the right - between your index finger and thumb. Then tug outward a few times. The sign for shirt can be done with one hand or two. If you do it with one hand though it might sometimes be misunderstood to mean 'volunteer.'

If you need to distinguish between the sign for volunteer and shirt, I recommend signing 'shirt' with two hands.
The left hand can be either in a 'loose' handshape or in a fist. Some people use a 'flat' hand. The important point to remember is that the left hand (non-dominant hand) is palm down. The right hand thumb rests on the back of the left hand. The right hand makes two circles.
