Among the most important figures in the Qur’an are the messengers, the divinely inspired prophets who spread the word of Allah to their people. Muhammad is the final messenger, to whom the word of Allah was dictated by the angel Jibril (Gabriel).
Important Messengers Adam → Nuh (Noah) → Ibrahim (Abraham) → Ya’qub (Jacob) → Musa (Moses) → Isa (Jesus) → Muhammad
The Wives of Muhammad Khadija → Sawda → Aisha* → Hafsa → Zaynab → Umm Salama → Zaynab → Juwayriya → Umm Habiba → Safiyya → Maymuna → Maria
*Whether Aisha was the second or third wife is a matter of some debate, as is the final number of wives. It is believed that Safiyya was Jewish and Maria Christian, but both converted to Islam.
Other Important Relatives Ali: Muhammad’s cousin and son-in-law. Ali was among the first to accept Muhammad’s message. In Shi’a Islam, he is considered the first Imam and Muhammad’s rightful heir. Fatimah: Muhammad’s daughter by Khadija, and the wife of Ali. She was close to her father and is an important model for faithful Islamic women.
