Introduction

Biology is the scientific study of life. It's a broad field that includes many unifying themes, such as all organisms being made up of cells that process hereditary information.

Some branches of biology include:

Ecology: The study of how living things depend on each other and their surroundings. Ecology is an important branch of biology because these relationships are important to the Earth's welfare and can be disrupted by human activities.

Genetics: The study of genes and heredity, and how traits are passed from one generation to the next. Genetics plays a key role in understanding inheritance patterns, genetic disorders, and the mechanisms of evolution.

Molecular biology: The study of the molecules that make up living organisms, such as DNA, RNA, and proteins. Molecular biologists study how molecules interact with one another in living organisms to perform the functions of life.

Other branches of biology include: Anatomy, Biotechnology, Botany, Immunology, Microbiology, Physiology, Zoology.
The word "biology" comes from the Greek words "bios" (meaning life) and "logos" (meaning "study").
