Sampling: Wastewater sampling is the process of selecting a small portion of water or wastewater to determine the characteristics of an entire batch. There are two types of sampling techniques: grab sampling and composite sampling:
Grab sampling: Collects all of the test material at one time. This is the most common type of sample.
Composite sampling: Collects numerous individual discrete samples at regular intervals over a period of time.
Analysis: Wastewater analysis involves testing water quality parameter indicators of contamination, rapid field testing for specific contaminants and contaminant classes, and laboratory screening and confirmatory analyses.
Common parameters: The most commonly used parameters in wastewater treatment plants are BOD, COD, and TSS.
