Microorganisms in wastewater: Most bacteria in wastewater are saprophytic and harmless to humans. However, wastewater may also contain pathogenic bacteria that cause typhoid, dysentery, and other intestinal disorders.
Diseases from water: Some diseases come from microorganisms found in water. For example, drinking water can contain toxins produced by cyanobacteria such as Anabaena and Microcystis.
