What is the difference between a “worker” and an “employee”?

When it comes to work there are a few choices to make. Do you want to be self-employed and work for yourself, or an employee? Do you want to work part-time or full? Do you want casual work with few strings attached, or a more reliable permanent job? There are advantages and disadvantages to all types of work.
