After passing all three portions of the FTCE, if candidates wish to become a guidance counselor, they must obtain the FTCE passing score on the School Counseling PK-12 exam. This is a computer-based test consisting of approximately 100-multiple choice questions. The FTCE Guidance & Counseling PK-12 (018) exam covers content in ten different FTCE competencies that primarily measures how well a candidate can demonstrate knowledge of programs, interventions, assessment, ethical and legal considerations, advisement of students, etc.
