What are macronutrients?  Macronutrients are substances that the body needs for growth, repair and replacement of cells and cell parts.  They are defined as a class of chemical compounds.

There are three types of macronutrients, i.e., protein, fat and carbohydrates.  Each of these three substances provide the body with calories and/or energy.  Watching the amount of intake of each of these substances is critical to being able to maintain a healthy body but elimination of them from a person’s diet can be just as devastating so it’s important to understand them and consume them in healthy amounts.
